This year the fashion is to wear much less jewellery than ever before but what you do put on has to be big, very big and chunky and be as original and as striking as you can find.
All you need is one or maybe two statement pieces and that is it. A large ring on one of your fingers and a wide cuff bracelet clipped onto your upper arm.
To start with rings, it is no longer fashionable to wear lots of little rings on several fingers of your hand but instead you wear just one very large and bulky ring. Also where you place your ring has changed as well and it looks great and unique to place your ring on your index finger rather than the usual ring finger. It is also better for such a large ring to be on the index finger rather than any other as that way it doesn’t hamper the movement of your hand so much.
The ring should contain a huge bright and vivid stone, or be in the shape of an animal’s head or have the motif of a snake on it. Anything with ethnic influence is what you’re looking for.
As for bracelets, they too are no longer slim link chains but very wide cuffs made out of, for example, old looking silver and encrusted with emerald green, red or turquoise stones or even in the form of a snake circling your upper arm.
On a simple black dress you could also pin on a large exotic brooch or wear a very chunky necklace but as always it has to be one or the other but never both. At the end of the day you have to choose how you match up your pieces but a good guide would be a bit like this – a large ring with a cuff bracelet on the opposite arm, a stunning brooch with a ring or a chunky necklace with a ring.
